While the species was named by J.R de la Torre-Bueno (of Entomological glossary fame), the genus was actually named for him, by his close friend and frequent co-author, George Kirkaldy a few years prior. And no, the species epithet is not a reference to tequila-based libations, but rather the pearly nature of the species’ body. (at University of Guelph)
