#365Insects 6: #Celastrina neglecta (Edwards, 1862)
Proof that looks aren’t everything, this Summer Azure butterfly has inspired considerable debate in recent years over it’s validity as a species. Some taxonomists argue it’s nothing but a seasonal variant of C. ladon, the Spring Azure, while others that its summer emergence makes it a unique species. It seems uniqueness has won out (for now, at least), but there’s no telling what further taxonomic research my unfold.
