#365Insects 2: #Phymata pennsylvanica Handlirsch 1897

The Pennsylvania Ambush Bug is the ninja of the insect world. Often found skulking around flowers like Goldenrod, these predators will grab nearly any insect that stops for nectar with its specially adapted raptorial forelegs. This specimen was collected in Guelph, Ontario, nicely illustrating why geographical species names can be misleading.
