I was tasked with collecting firefly larvae today.
I lifted up a large piece of dead wood and found a really big Photuris larva and got excited, but in moving the wood it fell down a hole. So I tried to dig it out with my fingers, then with sticks, and then a mouse popped out of the hole to look at me. I screamed in shock, it retreated into its hole, and then I laughed.
Then I got lunch.
P. S. I collected 6 larvae for BugFest, then five species of millipedes for myself <3
